Call for Papers - Special Symposium at William & Mary with a possible Special Issue
College of William & Mary: Finance Department (Williamsburg, VA)
Symposium Goals/Purpose:
Real Estate truly impacts everyone as it encompasses both where you live (Residential) and work (Commercial). Moreover, the market capitalization of real estate is larger than that of the stock market and is just as mission critical to the US economy. As such, the Finance Department at the College of William & Mary is hosting a Special Symposium devoted to current issues in real estate research inclusive of all aspects of this multi-disciplinary asset class. We are intentionally leaving open-ended the focus of study to show the expansive collection of topics that encompass this multi-disciplinary field.
Papers presented at the Symposium will be eligible for inclusion in a possible special issue of the Journal of Real Estate Research. All current topics (empirical, theoretical, or policy-oriented papers) are welcome.
Program Format:
We are intentionally keeping the symposium brief, starting at noon on Monday, May 12, and ending at noon on Tuesday, May 13, enabling people to arrive in the morning on Day 1 and depart in the afternoon on Day 2. Seven (7) total papers will be presented, each with a discussant. A $1,000 Speaker Fee will be paid to presenters to cover expenses (hotel, airfare, shuttles, etc.). All meals will be provided at the symposium, including two lunches, breakfast and a special dinner. We have booked, in its entirety, the Cedars of Williamsburg Bed & Breakfast (https://www.cedarsofwilliamsburg.com/) located right across the street from the W&M Mason School of Business to encourage attendee bonding and cohesion.
