August Lösch Prize 2025
The August Lösch Association and the City of Heidenheim jointly grant the August Lösch Prize. The prize was established in 1972; it is named after August Lösch (1906-1945), one of the founders of modern Regional Science.
The prize is meant to reward outstanding research in Regional Science, and carries an award of Euro 5,000. (Joint recipients of the prize share that amount.) The Association now invites submission for the 2025 August Lösch Prize.
Submissions
- All types of manuscripts (research papers or monographs) will be considered.
- Research papers should be accepted for publication in a peer reviewed journal.
- All submitted work should be within 8 years of completion of the Ph.D.
- The deadline for submission is February 21st, 2025.
- Please attach CV (including date of Ph.D. conferral) and a brief (3 page max.) English language summary.

The prize winner, or the prize winners, will be decided by the prize committee (Kristian Behrens, Rainald Borck, Kristof Dascher, Hans Koster, Gunther Maier, Annekatrin Niebuhr, Matthias Premer, Javier Revilla-Diez, Andres Rodriguez-Pose and Roger Vickerman).
Award and Conference
The prize will be awarded at the August Lösch Conference in Regensburg, June 27th-28th 2025. The prize winner, or the prize winners, and also one author each from the submissions shortlisted 2nd and 3rd, will be invited to Regensburg, all costs covered. Jorge de la Roca (USC) has kindly agreed to give the keynote.
