Job Announcement

The Department of Economics and Finance at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) invites applications for two renewable, non-tenure-track positions at the Assistant Professor of Practice level. One position emphasizes banking and financial institutions, while the other specializes in real estate.

  • Candidates for the banking-focused position should be prepared to instruct courses, including Bank Management, Current Issues in Banking, Central Banking, Bank Lending, and other finance-related subjects.
  • Candidates for the real estate-focused position should be able to teach courses such as Introduction to Real Estate, Real Estate Finance, Real Estate Investments, Property Management, Real Estate Development, Appraisal of Real Estate, and other real estate-related subjects.

Responsibilities include instruction at the undergraduate level, but based on qualifications, teaching master’s level courses might be possible; the maintenance of scholarly academic status in accordance with AACSB accreditation standards; service on faculty committees; and community outreach.

The expected starting date is September 1, 2024. Salary and benefits are AACSB-competitive and appropriate for experience and qualifications. Hiring decisions are subject to final budgetary approval.

Required Qualifications

Completion of the Ph.D. degree in Finance, Banking, Real Estate, or a related discipline from an AACSB-accredited institution by the starting date is preferred, along with strong evidence to support quality instruction and the ability to teach a range of finance courses while maintaining scholarly activities. Candidates without a terminal degree should have a master’s degree and 10+ years of impactful industry experience in banking or real estate. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are important.
