Eva Steiner

Eva Steiner is an Associate Professor of Real Estate at the Penn State Smeal College of Business where she holds the King Family Early Career Professorship. Prior to joining Penn State, she was an Assistant Professor of Real Estate at the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business (on leave during the academic year 2020/2021) and at the University of Cambridge, UK. Professor Steiner’s research interests include real estate finance and economics. Her research has been published in leading academic journals, such as Real Estate Economics and the Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics. She regularly contributes to academic and industry seminars and conferences. Her work has been recognized through a number of international honors and awards (e.g., from the American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association) and has attracted sponsorship from academic and industry-related sources, such as the Real Estate Research Institute. Since 2019, Professor Steiner is a Post-Doctoral Fellow of the Homer Hoyt Institute (the Weimer School). Since 2020, she serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics. Professor Steiner has been a member of various conference committees, including the AREUEA Annual and National Conferences, and the prestigious Pre-WFA Summer Real Estate Research Symposium. She regularly serves as ad-hoc reviewer for leading academic journals in real estate and finance. She is a member of the Real Estate Research Institute Advisory Board and of the Nareit Real Estate Investment Advisory Council. As part of her academic appointments, Professor Steiner has taught real estate finance and econometrics to undergraduate and graduate students in business, real estate, and MBA programs. Professor Steiner received her BA from the University of Heilbronn, Germany, and her MPhil and PhD degrees from the University of Cambridge, UK.
