General Conference Information
The American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association (AREUEA) is pleased to announce the International Conference to be organized by Henley Business School, University of Reading and held for the very first time in the UK and more precisely in Reading (England) between Wednesday 9th and Friday 11th July 2014 (with optional tour to Windsor Castle on Saturday 12 July)
Alongside the academic rigour and hence the benefit of attending the conference, the Programme is also intended to allow you to have a great experience in “English style”.
We have also arranged special rates with the hotel in case you decide to stay longer to visit other sites of English heritage (quite a few in the area!) and to enjoy a relaxing break in the English countryside. Alternatively, you may also want to visit London, which is only 25 minutes by train.
The highlights of social events are visits in a local brewery and winery with beer and wine tasting and a walking tour of Oxford with the final dinner in the spectacular Rhodes House. ... as well as a surprise prepared for you during the Thursday night dinner with view on the River Thames.
We look forward to seeing you in Reading!

Location and Transportation
Reading is a town situated only 25 minutes by train from central London, and it is at the heart of a land with several English and World Heritage Cities in reachable distance (around 1 hour): Oxford, Winchester (with King Arthur’s Round Table), Stonehenge, Salisbury (with a stunning cathedral where one of the four remaining original copies of the Magna Carta is kept) and Bath (Roman city).
Several important local attractions are within a 30 minute journey from the venue: Windsor Castle (one of the Queen’s main residences), Ascot Racecourse (probably the most famous in the UK) and Reading Abbey (founded by king Henry I in 1121). Moreover, Reading is also well connected with major airports:
- Heathrow Airport, 30 minutes by car/express bus
- Gatwick Airport, around 1 hour by car or direct train
- London City, Luton and Stansted, reachable via Central London
The venue is only a 15 minute taxi ride from the train station in Reading town centre. During the two main days of the conference – 10 and 11 July – there will be a complimentary shuttle bus from/to the venue to/from the town centre in the morning and early afternoon.
