2008 Annual Conference

AREUEA’s Annual Meeting is held in January in conjunction with the meetings of the Allied Social Science Associations. AREUEA organizes twenty-three sessions during the three day conference, in which selected participants report on research in progress or recently completed. Additionally, AREUEA hosts a Doctoral Session which invited distinguished scholars share their insights and wisdom with students on topics such as career planning, publishing, and research. Furthermore selected students can present their current research at the doctoral poster session which is held in conjunction of a reception in their honor.

Every year AREUEA hosts a joint session with the American Economic Association (AEA) in which topics of mutual interests are presented by distinguished scholars from both organizations. The Presidential Luncheon is featured on the last full day of the conference and is hosted in honor of AREUEA’s outgoing President. In addition to the Presidential address, AREUEA recognizes the generous sponsors of the organization in addition to announcing the recipients of the George Bloom Award, Edwin Mills Best Paper Award, Real Estate Economics Best Referee Awards, and the Homer Hoyt Institutes Dissertation Award.

We all had so much fun the last time we were at the Bourbon Vieux we decided to go back! Got Beads? They have the largest balcony on Bourbon Street! We’ll have a supply of beads for those wanting to partake in the New Orleans tradition or if you just want to take a few strands home to the kids! :)

New This Year!

We understand how difficult it has become at the ASSA meetings to find a "spot" to sit and enjoy a conversation with a colleague. So we have arranged to have a hospitality room for AREUEA members to use at your convenience during the conference. The room will be located in the Sheraton New Orleans, Maurepas room. We will provide plenty of seating, coffee and light refreshments throughout the day. We look forward to seeing you!
